March’s Out to Lunch will be at EPH!


Laura Valdez and “The Team” from the City of Elgin will be our special guests for the Monday, March 24 edition of DNA’s Out to Lunch program. Come to the Elgin Public House, 219 E. Chicago, at noon where you will have the pleasure of Greg’s Signature Buffet and a Printpresentation about Elgin’s 311 system, featuring everything one ever wanted to know about 311, but were afraid to ask!

RSVP at 847-488-1456 or online by Friday, March 21. As usual, the cost is $12, tax and tip included. Cash is preferred, and you pay at the event.

DNA has moved!

moveThe Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin, IL has a new location in downtown Elgin!

Computers are up and running, the paint has dried, and we are happy to be settled in our new home at 10 N. Spring Street!  We are above Salon Couture and Blue Box Cafe, with the entrance off of Spring Street.  Our phone number (847-488-1456) remains the same.

The DNA Board and Staff would like to thank Leath Partners for letting us land so graciously in their offiice space at 166 E. Chicago.  This space is available for lease!  Some of its features include original wood flooring, beautiful crown molding, a gorgeous tin roof (to be seen!), two bathrooms and much more!  If you would like to see this property, contact the DNA or contact their leasing agent Fox Hollow at 630-235-1869.

DNA is looking for enthusiastic volunteers! It’s true!

The Downtown Neivolunteerghborhood Association is currently looking for volunteers for our Promotions Committee.  If you love the downtown Elgin area and want to work on events such as the Fourth of July Parade, Window Wonderland, Pub Crawls, Cruise Nights and the DNA Gala, let us know!  We’d like you to be on the team that creates these successful promotional events that drives individuals to Elgin’s central business district.  With the support and generosity of volunteers, the Downtown Neighborhood Association organizes some of the most popular events in Elgin.  In addition, the DNA partners with other organizations and committees to promote events such as Nightmare on Chicago Street, Next Wave Art Salon and Home for the Holidays.  With your input and assistance, we can build an even greater downtown Elgin.  If you are interested, please send an email to  Thank you for your consideration of being a part of the DNA team!

The Downtown Neighborhood Association (DNA) of Elgin, IL is a non-profit volunteer-driven organization that represents the interests of Elgin’s Central Business District. The Association’s purpose is to foster a center of activity and ensure economic stability for the heart of Elgin through organization, design, promotion and economic revitalization, and we can do this through your support.

    *Priority listing on the DNA’s “Top 10” and “Weekend Reminder”
    *Official downtown Elgin Ribbon Cuttings, Open Houses and Anniversary Celebrations
    *Marketing of available downtown Elgin properties
    *Member assistance and promotions for member events and happenings
    *Complimentary use of DNA resources such as folding tables, chairs, pop-up tents and signs
  • Over the years we have made great accomplishments, here is just a sampling:
    *The DNA’s Design Committee achieved recognition for Downtown Elgin on the National Register for Historic Places, creating a popular Walking Tour of Historical Downtown Elgin. We worked with community partners such as the Elgin History MuseumGail Borden Public Library and individual community volunteers to accomplish this goal.
    *The DNA hosted the “Downtown Elgin Real Estate Tour”, which attracted new businesses, realtors and developers to Elgin’s central business district.
    *The DNA brought thousands of visitors to Downtown Elgin through special events, such as the Downtown Elgin Pub Crawl, Winter Wonderland, Small Business Saturday, First Friday’s, the Harvest Market and more.
    *The DNA Board and Staff has established relationships with both Elgin Academy and Judson University to create new and exciting opportunities for our downtown stakeholders.
    *On behalf of the City of Elgin, we guided numerous new business owners on opening a business in Downtown Elgin. In addition, we work with investors and property owners on redevelopment in Elgin’s central business district.
