Deirdre White Named New DNA Executive Director

DeirdreAN ANNOUNCEMENT FROM DNA BOARD PRESIDENT KARIN JONES:

On behalf of the Downtown Neighborhood Association of Elgin and our Board of Directors, we would like to welcome Deirdre White as our new Executive Director. Deirdre has been a board member with the DNA for the last two and a half years and a volunteer with us for much longer than that. She has served on numerous committees within DNA and we are all very excited to be a part of her next steps with our organization.  She brings with her a love for everything downtown and her ever present, up beat, get it done spirit.

Her official first day will be August 12th. So for those of you who know Deirdre, please congratulate and welcome her in our Downtown Elgin way!  Those of you that have not yet met her, look forward to meeting her soon!

The dynamics at DNA are about to shift yet again as we continue to evolve and change during our 15th year! With the recent hiring of Don Obenauf as our Economic Development Director and now Deirdre as our new Executive Director, we foresee quite the dynamic duo and many exciting things in our future!

And you all know I can’t resist quoting Dr. Seuss so, Deirdre, our advice to you is, “Why fit in when you were made to stand out?”

Welcome aboard! We look forward to seeing you in full swing!

Karin Jones
DNA President

DNA, BMO Harris Bank Announce Additional Link Program Funding

2013_HM_LogoThe Downtown Neighborhood Association is excited to announce that BMO Harris Bank is committing an additional $3,000 towards the funding of the Downtown Elgin Harvest Market’s Link Double Couponing program.

Throughout the 2013 season, Link customers can swipe their Link/EBT cards at the Harvest Market’s information booth to be eligible to receive up to an additional $20 in Link tokens to shop with per week, courtesy of a generous financial contribution from BMO Harris Bank.

“It’s important that we all think about how we can further provide assistance to those with the greatest of needs and being able to provide families with fresh produce that’s so important to wellness is a great benefit to our community,” said Jeff Blanchette, BMO Harris Bank Elgin Market President.

The Link program at the Downtown Elgin Harvest Market, one of only two such farmer’s market programs in all of Kane County, is made possible thru a partnership with BMO Harris Bank and Making Kane County Fit for Kids Funders Consortium.

The Downtown Elgin Harvest Market takes place every Thursday thru October 3 from 9am-2pm at 200 N. Grove Avenue, across from the Gail Borden Public Library, The Centre of Elgin and The Hemmens. For more information about the Harvest Market, visit www.ElginHarvestMarket.com.
