Honoring Our Volunteers: 4th of July Parade Committee

Volunteer_HeartIn honor of National Volunteer Week, the Downtown Neighborhood Association (DNA) of Elgin would like to recognize our volunteers who have been at the very heart of DNA’s downtown revitalization efforts for more than 15 years.

Today we are recognizing the members of our Elgin 4th of July Parade Committee.

Each year the Downtown Neighborhood Association coordinates the City of Elgin’s annual 4th of July Parade. Under the direction of Managing Director Jason Pawlowski, the 4th of July Parade Committee consists of local volunteers who help organize various facets of the parade including recruiting parade entertainment, sponsorship, volunteer & parade participant recruitment, marketing, parade staging, set-up & take-down and more! Last year over 450 volunteer hours were spent organizing the Elgin 4th of July Parade.

This year’s City of Elgin 4th of July Parade – Presented by Sherman Health steps off on Thursday, July 4 at 9am at the intersection of Slade & Douglas Avenues and ends at Highland & Douglas Avenues. The Elgin 4th parade draws better than 10,000 people annually to the streets of downtown Elgin. The theme of this year’s parade is “Elgin Marching Thru Time”. Parade Sponsorship and Marketing Opportunities are also available.

The 4th of July Parade Committee is currently seeking volunteers to serve as block captains, route ambassadors, bike ambassadors and set-up and take down crews on the day of the parade. Shifts are from 6am-12pm. All parade volunteers receive a parade t-shirt and will enjoy a volunteer breakfast the morning of the parade.
