Food Drives at Elgin’s 4th Parade

The theme of this year’s City of Elgin 4th of July Parade – Presented by Sherman Health is “Red, White and Food” – a celebration of Elgin’s great tastes and unique flavors.

In keeping with that food theme, the Boy Scouts and other members of the Shabbona District Three Fires Council will conduct a parade food drive in conjunction with their Scouting for Food initiative.

Parade-goers are encouraged to bring donations of canned or non-perishable food items which the scouts will then be collecting during the parade. All collections will be donated to local food pantries.

Also as part of the 2nd Annual Kountry Pet Resort Pooch Parade, representatives from the Kountry Pet Resort in Elgin will be collecting donations of canned pet food as well. Pet food donations will be distributed to Animal House and Almost Home Rescue.

The City of Elgin’s 4th of July Parade – Presented by Sherman Health steps off Wednesday, July 4 at 9AM at Slade and Douglas Avenues and ends at Highland and Douglas Avenues.
